Abstract

Single-ventricle physiology is a very general description, as there are many types of patients with single ventricles, and the physiology of these patients changes as they undergo surgical palliation (usually via Norwood/Sano, Glenn, and Fontan operations). Catheterizations frequently are performed preoperatively to ensure that the hemodynamics are suitable for surgery, to further define anatomy, and to intervene on lesions that could be problematic at the time of surgery, in the immediate postoperative period, or in the long-term.
