Sports injuries that affect the peripheral nerves of the proximal lower limb (above the knee) are relatively uncommon. Injuries involving the lumbosacral plexus occur more often than peripheral nerve injuries. Of peripheral nerve injuries in athletes, sciatic neuropathy is the most common.1 In this chapter we cover injuries to the following nerves.
