This paper traces the development of Virginia Tech's Decision Support Systems and Operations Management majors, including plans to incorporate Service Sciences into a capstone seminar course and elective offering. Collaborative teaching between electrical engineering, computer science and business information technology as part of a Masters of Information Technology degree provides a basis for cross-functional cooperation in a service sciences initiative. The feasibility of creating a Center for Service Sciences, Quality and Innovation (SSQI) at the university is also discussed.
