Finance and Investment Industry
I wanted to work in Japan after graduation. With a bachelor’s degree in finance and international business, and a master’s degree in foreign service with proficiency in the Japanese language from Georgetown University in Washington, District of Columbia, what better entry point than a global investment bank? Goldman, Sachs & Co. took a chance on me in 1997, hiring me into their Treasury Operations team for a year of training in New York, followed by a year-long assignment in Tokyo. Ten years later, I have come to enjoy building a career in this firm and industry, spending time as an operations analyst in treasury in two countries, a project manager on a cross-product team, and finally as a team manager in derivatives operations, managing at turns the firm’s collateral team, credit derivatives middle office, interest rate products, documentation and settlements, and, most recently, global derivatives prime brokerage middle office.
