Last but not least, this chapter is devoted to a description of computer methods that are used, or have been proposed, for voltage security analysis. For their presentation, we have chosen to start from voltage security criteria and group in the same section methods that basically address the same criterion. Three such categories are successively considered, namely contingency evaluation, loadability limit computation, and secure operation limit determination. We proceed with a presentation of eigenvector computation methods, for instability diagnosis purposes. Next, we illustrate some of the methods described in this chapter using examples from a real-life system. We conclude with some remarks dealing with real-time aspects.
