Advanced Persistent Hyperplastic Primary Vitreous

JH is a 23-month-old Bolivian boy who had never “used his eyes” since birth, according to his parents. Examination found no fixation to light with the phthisical right eye but there was some intermittent fixation with the left. A local self-proclaimed pediatric ophthalmologist was planning to do cataract surgery on the left eye but the parents heard that a team of doctors was visiting from the United States and brought the child for consultation.
