The major goal of this chapter is to learn how to implement discrete-time filters using a DSP and in in real-time. Discrete-time filters are often called digital filters. The theory is usually presented in a typical required Electrical Engineering undergraduate course on signals and systems and a Senior elective course on digital signal processing. Having to write a DSP program and getting every detail correct, and seeing filters work with live signals leads to a deeper understanding of digital filtering.
