Orbital flight: The orbital experience, company profiles, mission architectures, and enabling technologies

Abstract

If a suborbital flight has whetted your appetite for more of the same, or if your trip to suborbit didn’t excite you enough, then you may be considering a trip into orbit. To help you choose a company that offers an orbital flight experience, this chapter provides an overview of those commercial space entities planning to offer tickets within the next decade. Also discussed are the risks involved in sending passengers into orbit and the abort modes and emergency egress systems that the prospective orbital spaceflight participant should consider before choosing an operator.
