I am fortunate to live at the edge of the village of Long Crendon, sufficiently far away from Oxford, 13 miles distant, to be outside its glare. There are some local light sources, but by late evening they are usually doused. One particular problem was a streetlight to the south. Rob Gendler’s difficulty in this direction was solved by throwing a blanket over the light every night, but I wanted something more permanent.
