The Pocket Guide

When one is not familiar with all the detailed steps to navigating the litigation process, it is helpful to have a guide. Angela Dodge, a psychologist who specializes in medical malpractice defense, has developed a pocket guide for physicians [66]. She notes it is similar to the “Cliff Notes” some students use in college when they lack the time or motivation to read the entire text. The pocket guide is an organized list of summaries, condensed points, tips, and avoidable traps doctors can use as a quick reference resource. With Dr. Dodge’s permission, the pocket guide is as follows.

Negative Word Active Listening Good Doctor Entire Text Condensed Point
