Abstract

Photodynamic treatments can be enhanced by (1) selective, precise delivery, (2) specific delivery of the sensitizer to the cancer tissue, and (3) precise control of the sensitizer’s ability to produce singlet oxygen. Fiber optic delivery can assist with light control. This paper focuses on loading sensitizer into low and high density lipoproteins and using nanoparticles into specific receptors for delivery. In addition, special glucose transporting molecules have also been developed to assist in cell targeting.
