Galaxies, like other deep-space objects, present some interesting challenges in sketching. They are faint, often very small, and any structure they may exhibit is subtle at best. You really have to be under pretty dark skies to sketch them, which is like reading in the dark or mowing the lawn blindfolded, neither of which makes a lot of sense.
