Abstract

Conventional wisdom holds that the ideas of Walras and the other two stars of the Marginal Revolution, William Stanley Jevons and Carl Menger, are diametrically opposed to the English Classical School. However, the view that their formal models are in all respects anti Classical in nature is debatable. I contend that Walras’s production theory in particular is closely related to the English Classical School.
