Abstract
This chapter walks a thin line. We don’t want to take the time to learn all of symbolic logic, as would be ideal to understand and prove theorems. But we have to get enough to work with, and without telling any lies or half-truths that might trip you up later. So the goal is modest: try to get enough of the language of theorems (actually the underlying language of mathematics) to understand some particular theorems of calculus.
