Arthroscopic Distal Clavicle Resection: The “Indirect” Subacromial Approach

The acromioclavicular (AC) joint, a common source of discomfort in the shoulder, can be affected by a variety of disorders including osteoarthritis, posttraumatic arthritis, and distal clavicle osteolysis. Conservative management of these conditions with activity modification and medication are often successful in relieving the pain. When nonoperative management fails, the orthopedic surgeon must consider distal clavicle resection.
