Abstract
The proper evaluation of the posterior displacement of the knee involves the clinical examination, instrumented measuring devices, and stress x-rays. It is important to measure the amount of posterior displacement of the tibia relative to the femur for the following reasons:
-
To differentiate a partial from a complete posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injury.
-
To compare results of treatment of PCL injuries.
-
To compare the change over time in laxity after PCL injury or surgical treatment.
