abstract
The article describes a practical approach to the process of designing a monitoring system. Several available tools are discussed with their features, pros, and cons, giving a rough overview of the possibilities and limitations. Then the authors point out a few requirements that are necessary to provide a unified interface tool, which could combine all the tools in a single, consistent web portal, with the support for user authentication and authorization. Several design considerations are discussed in-depth, along with the implementation examples of the tool written at PSNC.
