Abstract
As surgery continues to become increasingly complex both technologically and procedurally, effective collaboration among intraoperative team members remains an important way to decrease errors and increase patient care safety. Multiple studies in recent years have shown that communication failure is the central issue in many critical incidents where patients experienced complications that could have been prevented.
