Terrorism attacks occur at unexpected times and locations, resulting in large variations in victim profiles. Population characteristics will differ among casualties injured on commuter buses or trains, in family restaurants, schools, shops, marketplaces and dancehalls. Nevertheless, these populations also have much in common and there is a great deal to be learned from the cumulative experience of treating casualties of terrorist attacks on civilian populations.
