Abstract

Sleep is a fundamental human need, essential for promoting healthy physical growth and development. Children’s sleep problems are common and can have serious effects on both the child and other members of the family. Such problems are even more prevalent in children with learning difficulties and are frequently referred to by parents as a cause of considerable stress. This chapter will give a brief introduction to the topic of sleep problems and their effects on both the child and the family.
