Abstract

Peer group pressure is usually given a bad press: it is assumed that friends are likely to distract you from your work and cause you to underachieve. However, at university, peer groups can be a good thing, as long as you learn how to manage them effectively. The secret is in the balance. There are five main types of peer group with which you might be involved, and we will discuss each in turn.
