Abstract

Historical interest in the Anglo-Irish War has been enormous but historiographical debate minimal. Roy Foster has also observed how little effect debates amongst historians have had on popular attitudes to the Irish past.1 Nowhere is this more true than with regard to the final stages of the Irish revolution.
