Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to offer an assessment of the impact brought about by the tragic events of 9/11 and the global War on Terrorism in a critical region. In the wake of 9/11, the security and terrorism-related rhetoric of the event and the War on Terror that followed it profoundly influenced the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. At the same time, the latter’s regional centrality and global importance was reflected in the discourse and strategic priorities of the War on Terrorism. It may be argued that 9/11 changed key dimensions of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and induced connections between the War on Terrorism and the resolution of the long-standing grievances at the heart of the issue.
