Abstract
Comforted by getting Molly’s letter of the 26th March just in time to speed him on his way home, and after sleeping off the effects of his journey, Barnes lost no time in seeing Molly. Travelling overnight, he arrived home on Good Friday. On Easter Sunday, 1 April, he called in Hamp- stead without serious ill-feeling or opposition from Mr Bloxam. With both of them in London, Barnes and Molly hoped that Mr Bloxam would relent and allow their friendship to develop more freely and personally. But he stayed firm in enforcing the restrictions intended to protect his daughter. And so Barnes took up the maths again, posting as before.
