Tra le applicazioni cardiache “non coronariche” della TC spirale multidetettore (TCMD), lo studio del complesso atrio sinistro-vene polmonari (AS-VP) è certamente quello di maggiore interesse clinico. Infatti, se la procedura di ablazione transcatetere delle VP dalla camera atriale si dimostra, in un numero considerevole di casi, procedura efficace per la risoluzione delle forme di fibrillazione atriale (FA) resistenti al trattamento farmacologico, il successo della stessa è fortemente subordinato alla comprensione da parte dell’elettrofisiologo della complessa anatomia regionale, attualmente garantita dalle moderne tecniche di imaging multiplanare: ecografia transesofagea ed endocardiaca, tomografia a fascio di elettroni (EBT), risonanza magnetica e TCMD.
