I tumori cardiaci di rado si manifestano clinicamente; di solito vengono riscontrati per caso, quando i pazienti sono sottoposti a una valutazione per sincope, dispnea, tromboembolia o per un quadro clinico d’insufficienza cardiaca congestizia o ipertensione polmonare [1]. L’ecocardiografia consente di identificare tumori clinicamente silenti [2]. Per definire l’estensione alle strutture extra-cardiache, è opportuno però completare l’esame con l’ecocardiografia transesofagea [3], la TAC o la risonanza magnetica cardiaca. L’80% di tutti i tumori cardiaci sono tumori benigni e di questi il 70% sono mixomi [4].
