La cardiomiopatia restrittiva è una condizione caratterizzata da normale dimensione cavitaria sinistra e normale funzione sistolica ma con una rigidità miocardica aumentata [1]. Questa patologia riduce la distensibilità del ventricolo in modo tale che il riempimento ventricolare è principalmente proto-diastolico. Quando la funzione sistolica atriale è conservata, il ventricolo può ricevere una quota modesta di volume ematico durante la sistole atriale, ma al prezzo di un aumento della pressione telediastolica. Questi disturbi fisiologici sono associati ad aumento della pressione atriale sinistra, dilatazione atriale e possibili aritmie [2].
