Risale alla fine degli anni’ 70,primi anni’ 80 l’introduzione degli impianti protesici non cementati, prima di anca, in seguito di ginocchio. I risultati ottenuti non furono però entusiasmanti: il disegno non ideale della protesi, l’usura del polietilene con conseguente osteolisi periprotesica e importanti quadri di metallosi furono di volta in volta indicati come la causa del fallimento dell’impianto [1–4]. Tali inconvenienti hanno,almeno nelle fasi iniziali, influito negativamente sulla ricerca e sullo sviluppo di protesi non cementate insieme all’evoluzione migliorativa dei disegni protesici cementati, all’affinamento delle modalità di cementazione, alla pubblicazione in letteratura di lavori di revisione clinica a più di 10 anni di pazienti operati con impianti cementati i cui risultati venivano classificati eccellenti e/o comunque buoni [3, 5–7].
