Abstract
This review describes recent advances over the past decade in the field of heterocycle synthesis via Pd-catalyzed alkene carboamination or carboalkoxylation reactions. These transformations effect the coupling of a carbon electrophile with an unsaturated alcohol or amine and provide heterocyclic products via difunctionalization of the substrate alkene. These reactions provide stereoselective access to a broad array of oxygen and nitrogen heterocycles, including compounds that contain more than one heteroatom. The current scope and limitations of these transformations are discussed, along with relevant mechanistic details.
