This review covers the literature published from January 1996 to December 2006 with 133 citations. The emphasis is on furanosesterterpenoids from marine sponges, together with their relevant biological activities, source organisms, and country of origin. The first total syntheses that led to the revision of structures or stereochemistries have been included.
