Part of the book series: Topics in Heterocyclic Chemistry ((TOPICS,volume 5))

Abstract

Targets of cyanobacterial heterocyclic cytotoxins classify into tubulin, actin, and the sodium channel. In addition, cyanobacteria produce a number of enzyme inhibitors. Polyketide synthase and the nonribosomal peptide synthase complex of cyanobacteria supply a variety of heterocycles. The relationships between bioactive compounds in cyanobacteria and invertebrate are also highlighted.
