Abstract

This chapter discusses matrix-addressed ac plasma displays operated with memory. The discussion begins with an overview of the different possible modes of operation, followed by a review of the materials and processing options available in fabricating these devices. The voltage transfer characteristic is derived and then used to discuss the operation of these devices. The effect on operating margin of different waveforms, patterns and sequences is also discussed. Finally, panel limitations and extendibility of the technology is addressed.
