Part of the Lecture Notes in Physics book series (LNP, volume 113)

Abstract

The availability fo single crystal conjugated polymers, the polydiacetylenes, has made possible the unambiguous identification and measurement of their fundamental and defect induced physical properties. These measurements are surveyed and results which can be used as a test of theoretical models are identified. A brief account of the confrontation of theory and experiment is given. The relevance of this work to the understanding of the properties of the less perfect polyacetylenes is considered.
