Abstract
Seit jeher gelten Innovationen als Schlüssel zu Wachstum und Unternehmenserfolg. Zu Beginn der 70'er Jahren wurde diese These aus einzelwirtschaftlicher Sicht wieder verstärkt aufgegriffen. Begründet wird ihre steigende Bedeutung vor allem durch die zunehmende Verkürzung der Lebenszyklen von Produkten und Dienstleistungen. Zahlreiche empirische Studien belegen jedoch, dass sich branchenabhängig 30–50 Prozent aller Innovationen als Flops erweisen, also nicht die Erwartungen der Anbieter (bzw. der Nachfrager) erfüllen und wieder vom Markt genommen werden. Aufgrund hoher Investitionsintensität vieler Innovationen gefährden somit häufige Misserfolge das langfristige Überleben eines Unternehmens. Die Notwendigkeit, das Floprisiko zu vermindern ist somit offensichtlich, der Bedarf an neuen Strategien, Methoden und Werkzeugen die logische Konsequenz. Speziell das innovieren von Dienstleistungen lässt dabei besondere Herausforderungen erwarten. Nicht zuletzt werden Dienstleistungen in der Praxis auch häufig als Problemgüter bezeichnet. Empirisch bestätigt geht von einer konsequenten Integration des Kunden in den Innovationsprozess ein positiver Effekt auf den Innovationserfolg aus. Kundenintegration in Innovationsprozesse bezeichnet die konsequente Ausrichtung sämtlicher relevanter Innovationsaktivitäten eines Unternehmens auf die Bedürfnisse seiner (potenziellen) Kunden. Dabei nimmt der Kunde im Innovationsprozess eine proaktive Rolle, im Sinne einer Wertschöpfungspartnerschaft, ein. Diese ist gekennzeichnet durch eine gemeinsame System- und Problemlösungskapazität zwischen Unternehmen und Kunden. Der folgende Beitrag beleuchtet nun die Chancen und Herausforderungen der Kundenintegration in Dienstleistungsinnovationsprozesse - im Kontext einer Planung und Entwicklung von Dienstleistungen mittels eines ingenieurmäßigen, systematischen Vorgehens (Service Engineering).
