Abstract
Since the early days of the Israeli occupation of East Jerusalem, this half of the city has been subjected to various Israeli policies gerrymandering its territorial and demographic constitution—policies which hindered its natural development and functioning. In this essay I will investigate one of the most striking yet unresearched phenomena generated by this process: the development of a Palestinian suburbia and its subsequent decline.
