Abstract

In this paper we introduce a novel application, currently developed in the EU-funded ACTS project AC082 DIANE. We describe a system for instant multimedia authoring with special features for supporting the creation and annotation of multimedia documents in a distributed working environment. The technology for media streaming and synchronization is realized in Java. The paper explores the possibilities of the new Java Media Framework (JMF) API and shown how the current DIANE architecture can be enhanced using JMF.
