Abstract

Particle tracing algorithms are used to investigate complex data set from Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD). But few methods exist for particle tracing on unstructured grids. This paper present a particle tracing algorithm to address this problem. The new algorithm, based on tetrahedral cells, use an efficient heuristic searching method to find the cell which contains the moving particle's new position. By using this efficient searching method, the presented algorithm allow an interactive investigation of complex vector data sets organized on unstructured grids.
