Abstract
We study the effect of the non-Gaussian galaxy clustering on the statistics of pencil beam surveys. We derive the probability distribution for the power spectrum peaks by means of the Edgeworth expansion and find that the higher order moments of the galaxy distribution raise the probability to obtain the 128h ā1 Mpc periodicity by more than one order of magnitude, up to 1%.
