Abstract
This paper presents an experience report carried out at Electricité de France, the French electrical power company. It shows how applied research activities on the software maintenance problems are set up within a quality and software engineering division. It then particularly focuses on an experience aiming at assisting software maintenance managers to evaluate their maintenance organisation. This experience is based on a guide that provides questions to ask a software maintenance team, and the way to evaluate the answers and conclude about first steps towards maintenance improvement.
