Abstract

The European Space Agency is pursuing a programme, European Space Software Development Environment [ESSDE] in which two parallel studies, the ESSDE/Reference Facility Project [ESSDE/RFP], and the ESSDE/Advanced Methods [ESSDE/AM], are being performed. As a major part of the Advanced Method project an Ada Strategy is being developed with as themes: Ada Environment Ada Training and Ada Policy. The strategy addresses in particular the conditions required to “optimally” use Ada in the space community. The approach taken to develop the strategy has looked at environments, training and policy and established how the goal of introducing Ada into industry can best be served. This paper looks at the results of the training and policy phase providing recommendations and proposals for an Ada strategy in the form of an Ada Policy for the Space Industry.
