Abstract

We summarize the results of 3-D numerical hydrodynamical simulations studying the origin of morphological asymmetries in radio jets. Four cases are studied which relate to the interpretation of narrow-angle tailed radio sources, wide-angle tailed radio sources, and asymmetric radio hot spots in classical doubles. Our simulations are performed at high numerical resolution using the most accurate numerical algorithms available. They reveal a number of new and interesting features in 3-D jet hydrodynamics which lend further support to the fluid beam hypothesis.
