Abstract

Accelerated Lambda Iteration, or ALI, methods are reviewed. An emphasis is given to the critical evaluation of various methods, analysing their physical and mathematical meaning, and recommending the most advantageous methods to interested non-specialists who consider applying these methods to solving actual line formation and model stellar atmosphere problems.
