Abstract

This study has established from a dynamical point of view the existence of stable orbits for planets around each star in a binary system. Of course, it does not imply that there are planets on such orbits; this is a separate cosmogonical question: is the formation of such a planet possible, and under which conditions, during or immediately after the formation of the binary system?

However, a consequence of these results is the possible existence of planetary companions in perhaps very numerous multiple stellar systems, increasing the possible number of habitable planets in the Universe, if such quasi-circular stable planetary orbits are found around other numerous binaries.
