Abstract
The thin layer Navier-Stokes equations are solved for two-dimensional airfoil problems by preconditioned conjugate gradient-like iterative methods. These methods use applicable to structured and unstructured grids. We characterize the performance of these fully implicit schemes on vector parallel machines. We compare a domain decomposition (DD) and a parallel version of the iterative algorithm. Results are presented for a two-dimensional turbulent flow calculation on a structured mesh and an inviscid transonic case on an unstructured mesh. Performance statistics from the optimized linear algebra kernels are also presented.
