Abstract

The increasing use of computers in universities raises ethical issues which must be addressed. These ethical implications will impact and affect society as a whole. Educational institutions should act not only according to the requirements of the law but also be subject to higher ethical standards. Two areas where computers and ethics intersect are dealt with in this paper, namely data protection and privacy policies with regard to student information and the acquisition of "illegal" software.
