Abstract
In this paper a parallel computer architecture for real time image processing is described. The goal is to find and develope an architecture that will be capable of executing entire applications in the domain of real time image processing.
The architecture consists of two parts: one for low level preprocessing and one for intermediate and high level postprocessing. The preprocessing subsystem is based on the direct mapping of static dataflow graphs onto hardware. The processing elements are interconnected through a flexible and fast communication network. The postprocessing subsystem consists of a nonspecialized parallel processor network that is closely connected to the low level subsystem.
