Abstract
SOBER is a new stream cipher that has recently been developed by Greg Rose for possible applications in wireless telephony [3]. In this paper we analyze SOBER and point out different weaknesses. In the case where an attacker can analyze key streams generated for consecutive frames with the same key we present an attack, that in our implementation requires less than one minute on a 200Mhz Pentium.
