Abstract

The present paper implements a cluster of workstation (COW) structure and also an application that will demonstrate the advantages and benefits of such a structure. The application is a message - passing - based parallel program, which simulates in parallel the propagation of photons through various environments. The simulation is based on the Monte Carlo principle of ‘throwing the dice’. Performance of both the application and the communication structure is evaluated by using parallel profiling tools.
