Abstract

A management system supporting the coordination of developers serves as a key component of a comprehensive development environment. Technical activities, however, are performed with the help of tools or technical environments such as CASE tools, text editors, compilers, and debuggers. In order to create an integrated development environment, we have to plug the tools into the “sockets” provided by the management system (Figure 6.1).
