Abstract
In this monograph, several technical terms and physical concepts are used that do not necessarily follow the common usage in the fields of electron spectroscopy and ion backscattering spectroscopy. Rather, they are used in a modified or extended manner to describe specific topics. The following notes and the table will be useful to avoid any confusion that may arise from terminology, especially for those who are already familiar with either electron spectroscopy or ion channeling.
